Summary


The Department of Clinical Neurophysiology at the Barts Health NHS Trust is inviting applications for an enthusiastic, qualified Specialised Clinical Physiologist/Clinical scientist (band 6) to join a busy team at the Barts Health NHS Trust. The department is situated at the Royal London Hospital serving a wide and diverse area of London and offers experience in the full range of Clinical Neurophysiology investigations (adults and children). The department provides an outpatient and inpatient service at the Royal London Hospital and also to other hospital within the Trust, offering routine, sleep and prolonged EEGs to both adults and children. A portable service is also provided for adult, paediatric and neonatal intensive care. Adult and paediatric video telemetry and home telemetry are also performed, as well as multimodality evoked potentials and MSLT. Additionally Clinical Physiologists/Clinical scientists undertake Nerve Conduction Studies for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.

The department is committed to employees’ career development and wellbeing, the latter being an area of renewed focus. Applicants will be competent practitioners and must have a BSc in Clinical Physiology (Neurophysiology) or equivalent formal specialist training.



Provides a comprehensive (regional) Clinical Neurophysiological investigative service to both inpatients and outpatients of this Trust and of surrounding hospitals. Additionally the department provides a portable investigative service at the bedside to critically ill patients outside the Trust. Patients are of all ages, come from a large range of specialties and suffer from a wide variety of medical disorders affecting the central and peripheral nervous systems. Referrals come mainly from Neurology, Neurosurgery, Neonatology, Paediatrics, Intensive Care, General Medicine, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics and Psychiatry. The most frequently encountered disorders include Epilepsy, Head Injury, Infective Disorders of the brain (e.g. Encephalitis), Anoxic Brain Damage, Nerve Entrapment and Multiple Sclerosis.
