Sanctuary Personnel is currently seeking a skilled Clinical Pharmacist with Emergency Duty Commitment to join a dynamic team within a reputable healthcare organisation in Lincoln. This role involves providing clinical pharmacist services to wards and departments, ensuring compliance with Medicines Management policies, and offering out-of-hours pharmacist cover.

Job Purpose:

• Provide clinical pharmacist services to wards and departments in alignment with Objectives and the NHS Plan.
• Supervise dispensing activities for inpatients, outpatients, and aseptically-prepared dispensed medicines.
• Undertake study for Certificate/Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy.
• Provide out-of-hours, evening, weekend, and bank holiday pharmacist cover.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Pharmacist Duties:

• Ensure high standards of patient-focused care.
• Comply with Medicines Management policies.
• Review prescriptions for legality, accuracy, and suitability.
• Monitor clinical use of drugs in patients.
• Provide medicines information and advice to patients and carers.
• Participate in a rotational training programme.

Clinical Pharmacist Supervision:

• Act as the supervising pharmacist in the dispensary.
• Conduct clinical checks of prescriptions.
• Provide advice to patients and carers.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.

Support Evidence-Based Practice:

• Assist in evaluating new pharmaceutical products.
• Participate in clinical audit and research initiatives.
• Conduct drug utilisation reviews.

Management of Risk:

• Participate in risk management audits.
• Report medicines-related incidents.
• Ensure compliance with regulations and guidelines.

Out-of-Hours Service:

• Participate in the pharmacist out-of-hours service.
• Contribute to evening, weekend, and bank holiday rota.

Staff Development:

• Undergo annual performance reviews.
• Undertake relevant training and continuing professional development.
• Contribute to the training of other healthcare staff.

Skills and Requirements:

• Proficiency in using pharmacy computer systems and software.
• Critical and analytical skills for assessing scientific papers.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to prioritise and manage heavy workload.
• Ability to work alone and make clinical decisions.

Working Conditions:

• Indoor working environment.
• Potential occupational hazards from exposure to harmful medicines.
• Exposure to patients with various symptoms and behaviors.
• Occasional verbal aggression from patients or carers.

Freedom to Act:

• Work within relevant legislation and professional standards.
• Follow objectives set by senior pharmacy management.

Qualifications & Certificates:

• Bachelor/Master of Pharmacy degree
• Completion of 1-year pre-registration pharmacy training
• Membership of the General Pharmaceutical Council

Previous Experience:

• Clinical pharmacy in a hospital setting
• Experience in medicines information

Evidence of Skills & Aptitudes:

• Continuous Professional Development (CPD)
• Proficiency in pharmacy computer systems
• Strong interpersonal skills, including persuasion
• Effective time management and prioritisation abilities
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Competent in dispensing and checking procedures
• Familiarity with Word and spreadsheet programs
• Awareness of personal limitations and knowing when to seek advice
