The Opportunity:

This post is full-time (35 hours per week), however, we are open to considering part-time or flexible working patterns. We are also open to considering requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working.

Are you passionate about supporting gender empowerment in the context of international livestock development? Do you have experience using data to help projects monitor their progress on gender? SEBI-Livestock is seeking a gender expert to lead the programme’s gender-focused data and monitoring work.

SEBI-Livestock (hereafter SEBI-L) is a dynamic and innovative organisation tasked with improving livestock data in low- and middle-income countries to support better informed decision making. We provide core data and monitoring services to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) and convene a large livestock data network, Livestock Data for Decisions (LD4D), to help achieve our goals. SEBI-L became a gender intentional initiative in 2020 in recognition of the role that gender plays in livestock development. SEBI-L has now secured funding to mainstream gender in both SEBI-L’s internal and outward facing operations. The position of Head of Gender or Senior Gender Specialist is a new and senior level appointment. The postholder will work across SEBI-L and our extensive partnerships to provide strategic level input to support the improvement of gender focused data and monitoring in the context of international livestock development.

Your skills and attributes for success:

Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in a relevant subject e.g. social sciences, human rights, gender/women’s studies, international development, or a related field
Relevant background and experience in e.g. livestock, agricultural, rural development and knowledge of key actors
Deep understanding of foundational concepts related to gender equality, including intersectionality
Significant experience in design, monitoring and evaluation of projects and program strategies integrating gender equality objectives and outcomes, including the collection, management, analysis and interpretation of qualitative data
Strong leadership skills
