Summary

A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Project Manager focusing on Cancer Transformation in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland (LLR). This post is a fixed term/secondment post until 31stMarch 2026.

You will support system wide co-ordination, design and delivery of the Targeted Lung Health Checks in addition to leading on transformation across a number of our tumour sites.

We are looking for someone with experience in supporting the delivery and planning of projects and change management.

You will have a can-do attitude, be able to roll your sleeves up, have exceptional organisational skills and be able to grow and maintain relationships. Experience of working in cancer services along with a clear understanding of the NHS Cancer landscape would be preferable.

The numbers of people living with and beyond a cancer diagnosis in the UK is set to double over the next 20 years. There are key reasons for these statistics: people are living longer and therefore more likely to develop cancer within their lifetime – cancer is predominantly a disease of older age; more effective treatments mean survival at 1 and 5 years are improving, and more people are being diagnosed earlier.

This post has been developed with an aim to sustain and continue to support the Trust in delivering against the recommendations outlined as part of the 2020 Cancer Taskforce in better prevention, diagnosis and treatment.

The post holder will be aligned to the Cancer Centre which is within a corporate arm of the Trust management structure. This will ensure the post holder is supported, with clearly defined lines of accountability and Governance.

Specifically, the post holder will be responsible for leading and project managing the successful delivery of national, regional, and locally agreed cancer pathway redesigns, addressing performance and service issues and quality improvement. This post-holder will also be responsible for ensuring project team members deliver the necessary changes to ensure the effective and timely delivery of the priorities as defined by the Cancer Centre Management Team.

The post aims to deliver sustainable changes to services and the system, taking into consideration the “Whole Pathway, Whole Patient” approach.

Our new strategy, developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners, is our compass for the next seven years (2023-2030).

We have four primary goals:
• high-quality care for all,
• being a great place to work,
• partnerships for impact, and
• research and education excellence

And we will embed health equality in all we do - taking active steps to reduce the avoidable differences in healthcare that some people face, working in partnership with communities.

Our strategy is underpinned by new values and we will work to ensure they are an everyday reality for all:
• we are compassionate,
• we are proud,
• we are inclusive, and
• we are one team

This is an exciting moment as we look to the future with clarity on what we already do well and where we need to focus our energies to make an even bigger difference for the people we serve.
