Job Description

Please note, working hours for this role consist of 12 hour shifts, both Days and Nights over a 3 week rotational shift pattern. An example working pattern would be:

Week 1: Days, Days, Nights, Nights, REST

Week 2: REST, REST, Days, Days, Days

Week 3: Nights Nights, REST, REST, REST

We are currently recruiting for an enthusiastic and innovative Pilot Plant Chemist in Drug Substance Manufacturing.

Operating a modern Pilot Plant facility.

Following detailed GMP batch instructions to complete tasks such as solids and liquids charging, reaction monitoring, reaction work-ups, crystallisations and waste management.

The role also involves GMP in-process analysis using techniques such as HPLC, KF and GC to monitor the progress and success of on-going reactions.
Learn new processes to operate safely and compliantly in the client’s facility.

Qualifications

A Degree, MSc, MChem or equivalent in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry or Chemical Engineering. The degree course must contain a significant number of organic chemistry modules if it isn’t a straight chemistry degree.

A sound, fundamental knowledge of Chemistry and analytical science is essential.

Previous Pilot Plant knowledge and experience within a pharmaceutical/chemical manufacturing facility is highly desirable.

Engineering skills would be desirable.

Knowledge and experience in the use of techniques such as HPLC, GC, Karl Fisher and UPLC within a GMP environment is essential.

Knowledge and experience of drug substance analysis, is an advantage.

An understanding of the drug development process would be desirable.

Proven ability to troubleshoot issues relating to instrumentation and analysis as required.

Proven ability to investigate questionable/ OOS results and providing support for pilot plant investigations as required.
