We are seeking a dedicated Functional Family Therapist to join the team in Children and Family Community Services. As a part of our innovative Functional Family Therapy Team, the successful candidate will receive training in the Functional Family Therapy Child Welfare (FFT-CW) licensed model. This program targets children and young people up to 17 years of age, alongside their parent/caregivers and extended family members.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver assessments and interventions in accordance with the Functional Family Therapy Child Welfare (FFT-CW) programme where there are escalating issues and concerns, which lead to poor outcomes for family members
• Attend and participate in regular clinical supervision
• Ensure that all areas of practice comply with the Children Law and other related legislation, regulations, policies, and guidance and ensure that all statutory requirements and professional standards are met
• Produce accurate, clear, and concise case records in manual and electronic form
• Establish and maintain effective links with other internal and external agencies, utilising specialist skills and knowledge as required
• Abide by relevant professional Code of Ethics and Practice
• Interpret and work within legislative and regulatory frameworks and policies and procedures (e.g., child protection and confidentiality)

Essential Requirements:

• A professional qualification and experience in a related field for example, social work, family therapy, mental health nursing, counselling, teacher
• Knowledge and experience of the impact of trauma on a child’s functioning
• Experience of working directly with children, young people and families, demonstrating an ability to listen to, and communicate effectively, with an understanding of areas of difficulties in relationships and family life
• Awareness of factors impacting on and issues facing vulnerable children and young people and families (e.g., disadvantage, poverty, disability)
• A proven track record of working effectively and flexibly with families
• An ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Knowledge of child/young people’s development and safeguarding practices
• Possess a clear theoretical base for understanding child development and attachment and the ability to effectively disseminate this knowledge
• Current valid category B Driving Licence
