Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and experienced Band 7 Speech and Language Therapist to become part of our integrated Medical HSEP (Health Services for Elderly People) therapy team. As a team of therapy support workers, occupational therapists, dietitians, speech and language therapists and physiotherapists, we are dedicated to providing and improving excellent quality of care for older patients and those living with frailty and dementia. Alongside our Medical HSEP team, you will be joining a team of 15.75 Speech and Language Therapy staff (qualified and assistants).
The post holder will:
• provide clinical leadership of a highly specialised therapy service across Health Services for Elderly People, working in partnership with all members of the multi-disciplinary team.
• be part of a team of senior SLT’s working within specialty groups that include Neurology, Head and Neck Cancer, Voice / ENT and critical Care / Respiratory.
• be responsible for providing highly specialist assessment, diagnosis and treatment of adult patients in acute elderly and general medical services within the Royal Free Hospital.
• Lead and support with specific clinical service development projects
• deputise for the Clinical Lead Speech and Language therapist, to ensure the development of collaborative and multidisciplinary team working practices between Therapy Teams at our Barnet and Chase Hospital sites, to assist in achieving Trust and national government targets.
You will be well supported with opportunities for peer support and access to joint working with clinical leads and will be offered opportunities for personal and professional development. The Speech and Language Therapy team run both videofluoroscopy and FEES instrumental assessment clinics. The candidate will also be expected participate in Bank Holiday cover.
The Royal Free London has excellent clinical outcomes and the therapies team has a strong commitment to interdisciplinary, evidence based practise including cross site learning with SLTs based on other Royal Free sites.
