Summary

We are looking for an experienced gardener, reporting to the Head Gardener, to deliver an exceptional experience in our beautiful gardens for our guests to enjoy when they visit our beautiful property located on stunning Lake Windermere. This is a maternity leave role, where we are looking for the role to start w/c 24th June 2024 for up to 12 months.

Langdale Chase Hotel, which has recently been recognoised by the Times as the 3rd best place to stay in the UK, sits on the banks of beautiful Lake Windermere and has recently undergone a full significant refurbishment. We are looking for a Gardener to be part of the Gardening team to help keep the gardens at Langdale Chase looking pristine for our guests to enjoy.

Your Day to Day:

  • Seasonal planting of flowers and shrubs, ensuring they are watered, fed and pruned
  • Preparing and maintaining any hanging baskets or pots
  • Keeping the grounds tidy and free of leaves and litter
  • Mowing and feeding lawned areas
  • Planning the next years planting and landscaping so we are always ready for the next season
  • Our hotel’s grounds give the first and last impression to our guests. You will have to ensure our property is always looking at its best

Who are we looking for?

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Gardening team to maintain our gardens all year round.

As an experienced Gardener, you will have a keen interest in plants and keen to learn more about plants, a hardworking attitude, and an interest in project work as well as garden development. As the gardens are continually evolving and improving following an exciting garden design plan, the role will be physically demanding. You will take pride in your work ensuring our gardens stay in prime condition throughout the year.

You will have at least 1 year hands-on experience working in a large garden. Having RHS Horticultural qualification Level 2 would be preferable. You will have good communication skills with the ability to work well with others and a self-motivated approach with the flexibility to work hours dependent on workload and seasonal requirements.

You’ll love the outdoors and getting your hands dirty, come rain or shine tending to our garden will always be your passion.
