This is a rare opportunity to join the supportive team of the Central London outpatients Department of the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital– 10mins walk from Oxford Circus and all that the city has to offer, and only a few minutes from the green space of Regents Park. We are seeking a full time RNA / RNC / dual trained nurse with current NMC registration to join our team in a career-developing role, at a stand-alone site where we drive forward not only NHS and Trust initiatives but also our own as we strive to improve service provision. You should be able to provide evidence of professional development and an interest in audit and research.

As a Band 5 RN in our department, you will be responsible for providing care to our patients, (mixed adult and children’s service) working as an integral part of the team to develop patient services, mentor junior staff/students and supporting the management team to ensure that our service users’ needs are met through the delivery of high-quality care.

Undertaking team leader role

Develop nurse led clinics such as pre-op screening/dressings/phlebotomy to provide a high standard of patient care.

Maintain a high standard of clinical work when carrying out nursing procedures.

Work with all clinical units and departments to ensure that every patient visit is seamless and efficient

Ensure compliance with our clinical governance framework, you will motivate colleagues, champion service user safety and dignity and drive continuous improvement.

Mentor and be a role model to students and junior staff

Participate in audit, surveys and represent the department as a link nurse

Registered nurses in outpatients need excellent communication, problem solving, teaching, liaising, supervising skills as well as clinical ones, including phlebotomy (desirable)

Ensuring pharmacy and other stock are up to date · Be a visible professional within the department

Our dynamic team is composed of Clinic support workers and Registered nurses. This integrated team are committed to providing excellent outpatient care alongside our leading Orthopaedic Surgeons and all other healthcare disciplines.

We also work very closely with the imaging/therapy/orthotics and support services on site and currently support paediatric nursing students. We work flexibly in an environment where clinics can change quickly and as the first point of contact for patients, we portray the welcoming face of the organisation.

Every day is different – from prepping to running clinics/assisting in the plaster and treatment rooms / running nurse led clinics – or doing a bit of everything!

We have a comprehensive induction programme and carry out on site training, support e-learning and attend training at the main site. Individual/team/dept/trust goals are also incorporated in our annual appraisals

· 1 years experience in an acute setting

· Work independently and in a team

· Effective communication and ability to manage difficult situations effectively

· Practice within scope of practice

· Time management, delegation skills alongside an understanding of the speciality

Desirable skills include

· Phlebotomy

· Plastering experience

· Risk Management

· Conflict resolution
