Summary
As a Nursery Assistant at either Level 2 or Level
3, you will be an integral part of the early childhood education team, working
closely with the lead nursery teacher to provide a safe, nurturing, and
stimulating environment for children aged between 0-5 years. Your primary
responsibility will be to support the lead teacher in delivering a high-quality
early childhood education program, ensuring the well-being and development of
the children under your care.
Responsibilities:
1. Childcare
Support: Assist in providing a safe and secure environment for children,
meeting their physical, emotional, and developmental needs.
2. Curriculum
Implementation: Support in planning and implementing age-appropriate
activities and play-based learning experiences to promote children's
cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development.
3. Individualized
Care: Collaborate with the lead teacher to provide individualized
attention and care for each child, considering their unique needs,
interests, and learning styles.
4. Classroom
Management: Assist in managing the classroom environment, ensuring it is
organized, clean, and well-maintained. Set up and tidy activity areas and
play equipment.
5. Assessment
and Progress Tracking: Assist in documenting and evaluating children's
progress, maintaining accurate records, and preparing reports for parents
and relevant stakeholders.
6. Parent
and Family Engagement: Foster positive relationships with parents and
families, maintaining open and professional communication, and providing
regular updates on children's progress and behaviour.
7. Behaviour
Management: Implement effective behaviour management strategies, promoting
positive behaviour and addressing any challenges that may arise.
8. Health,
Safety, and Hygiene: Follow established protocols and policies to ensure
the safety, security, and well-being of all children. Maintain hygiene
standards, including diapering, feeding, and toilet training.
9. Team
Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other nursery staff, sharing
ideas, resources, and responsibilities to create a positive and enriching
learning environment.
Qualifications and Skills:
- For
Level 2 Nursery Assistant: Minimum of a Level 2 qualification in Early
Childhood Education or a relevant field. Proven experience working with
children in a nursery or similar setting.
- For
Level 3 Nursery Assistant: Minimum of a Level 3 qualification in Early
Childhood Education or a relevant field. Proven experience working with
children in a nursery or similar setting.
- Knowledge
of child development principles and age-appropriate learning strategies.
- Excellent
communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability
to work well in a team and contribute positively to a collaborative
environment.
- Patience,
empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting children's growth and
development.
- Basic
knowledge of health, safety, and hygiene practices related to childcare.
- First
Aid and CPR certification (desired but not essential).
