Summary

The Imaging Directorate at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust requires 2 cross-sectional Consultant Radiologists with an interest in General and Oncological Imaging. One is a new post to support increasing demand, the other a replacement post.

Both posts will be considered cross site posts but will be based at one site with occasional cover required on the other. The successful candidate must demonstrate skill in reporting general and oncological cross-sectional imaging. A second speciality interest would be welcome such as Breast, Urology, Lower GI or Chest imaging. The Kent Oncology Centre is based at Maidstone Hospital and provides care in all the major tumour groups. The candidate would be expected to support at least one of the major tumour MDTs.

We are a progressive, busy department running across two sites with a team of 28 Consultant Radiologists. The posts would carry an on-call commitment. Basic interventional skills would be particularly welcome e.g. US/CT guided biopsy and drainages.

We are a teaching unit with SpRs from the Kent Training scheme and medical students from the Kent and Medway Medical School. There is also opportunity to be involved in research and trials ongoing in the Oncology centre. We are able to offer home reporting facilities to encourage flexible, family friendly working.

The posts will have duties for consultant provision of diagnostic imaging services for both the Tunbridge Wells and Maidstone Hospitals, and will join a team of 24 Consultant Radiologistss. The successful candidates must demonstrate skills in general and oncological radiology but also reporting general cross-sectional imaging and should have a particular interest in an oncological sub speciality / tumour group.
