Leisure & Culture Dundee delivers leisure, sports, library, information and cultural services on behalf of Dundee City Council www.leisureandculturedundee.com

As a member of the Senior Management Team of Leisure & Culture Dundee, you will lead the strategic development of responsive, inclusive, creative and progressive sport, leisure and physical activity services, ensuring delivery towards the Leisure & Culture Dundee Strategic Plan and charitable purposes.

You will have a degree in a field of leisure/sport, or relevant equivalent qualification. You will have significant experience of management at a senior level and evidence of experience in the development of strategies and policy formulation. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about the delivery of effective, inclusive and innovative Leisure, Sport and Physical Activity Services for the city.

Requirements

Degree in Leisure/Sport discipline, or relevant equivalent qualification.

Significant experience of management at a senior level and evidence of experience in the development of strategies and policy formulation.

Evidence of successful partnership working and the management of significant change.

Evidence of collaborative working across services and organisations.

Evidence of experience in communicating with different stakeholders.

Ability to take initiative and make decisions.

Excellent negotiation, collaboration and leadership skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Excellent financial skills and experience of managing budgets.

Strong customer orientation and experience of the sensitive handling of customer complaints.

Strategic planning skills.

Extensive people-management experience.

Responsibilities

The Head of Leisure, Sport and Physical Activity will lead the strategic development of responsive, inclusive, creative and progressive services, ensuring delivery towards the Leisure & Culture Dundee Strategic Plan and Charitable purposes.

The Individual

You will have the enthusiasm for taking service delivery forward and embracing change and be knowledgeable in the fields of leisure, sport and physical activity.

You will have significant experience of management at a senior level, and have evidence of experience in the development of strategies and policy formulation. You will also have evidence of successful partnership working, as well as evidence of collaborative working across services and organisations, and experience in communicating with different stakeholders. You will also have evidence of the management of significant change.

You will be a decision-maker who can take the initiative, and also have excellent negotiation, collaboration and leadership skills, as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills.

A strategic planner, you will have extensive people management experience, with the capacity to work under pressure to meet deadlines, and excellent financial skills and experience of managing budgets.

Strong customer focus and experience of the sensitive handling of customer complaints, as well as the ability to relate to stakeholders and to build strong networks and professional relationships.

A degree of flexibility is required for this post with the potential for evening and weekend working, as necessary.
