What you'll do
You’ll apply widely agreed software engineering principles and methodologies to design, develop, test and maintain applications and services to achieve the stated business and technology goals within required budgets and timelines. We’ll also look to you to oversee the quality of work, making sure that it meets the technical standards for all services output.
You’ll also:
- Align to the organisation’s architectural direction and principles, and make sure that the applications and services being built adhere to them
- Liaise with lead engineers, architects, business analysts and other key stakeholders to understand the objectives and requirements
- Support well thought out estimates after a thorough consideration of design, build and testing of complexity and maintainability and serviceability
- Design and develop reusable libraries and application programming interfaces for use across the bank
- Support the design and development of high-volume, high-performance and high-availability applications using proven frameworks and technologies
- Write unit and integration tests, in automated test environments to ensure code quality
The skills you'll need
You’ll need a background in software engineering, software design or database design and architecture, as well as experience of developing with core banking system software from Avaloq. You should also have development experience in a programming language, experience of using finance and banking industry recognised frameworks and development tooling in Java based technologies.
You’ll also need:
- Knowledge of the key phases of software delivery lifecycle and established software development methodologies
- Experience with Avaloq scripting and PL or SQL
- Track record in technical business analysis, requirements and reverse engineering processes
- Collaboration with business stakeholders with an understanding of UK payments and banking topics
- Technical knowledge or understanding of Open Banking standards
- Avaloq Certified Professional is preferred but not essential
