Location: The Defence Academy, SwindonWorking Week: 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 0800-1600pm, Friday finish at 1530pmSalary: £19,000 per annum plus benefits & 25 days annual leave​Apprenticeship Qualification: IT Technician level 3 Expected Apprenticeship Duration: 12 months apprenticeship

Serco have an exciting new apprenticeship role as a Apprentice Desktop Support Technician based at the Defence Academy. As part of your apprenticeship, you will be working in the IT team in areas such as PC hardware, software and help resolve any issues. You will have full training provided and learn on the job. This is a great opportunity to learn and develop your skills in IT at Serco.

Main Accountabilities:

- Ensure that desktop related incidents identified through the Service Desk are resolved quickly and efficiently whilst ensuring that service level agreements are met.
- Provide 1st and 2nd line technical support and service to staff and students, including some overseas students, all with differing levels of computer literacy.
- Assist in the preparation, issue and collection of Defence Academy laptops
- Undertake configuration and support of client based software including security software, system updates and application updates with training
- Undertake problem management tasks identifying underlying causes and providing solutions to commonly occurring faults.
- Carry out printer maintenance and repair taking account of manufacturers warranties

What you’ll need to do the role:

- Understanding of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office
- Strong communication skills
- Must have a flexible approach with an ability to adapt to a constantly changing environment
- Ideally a PC understanding
- Willingness to learn
