Summary


We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, dedicated, forward thinking nurse who will be committed to the role with a determination to ensure patients on the ward receive the highest standards of care.

An opportunity has arisen for a full-time band 5 post working on a 24 bedded surgical assessment unit for 12 months. We are a surgical ward specialising in general surgery, Urology, Gynaecology, ENT and a mixture of other specialities from the medical division in times of need for escalation.

Our patients have varying degrees of dependency which will mean organising and prioritising care accordingly whilst being able to recognise and manage deteriorating patients.

The post is a rotational post consisting of days/nights & weekends and you must be punctual and flexible. You will need to have excellent communication skills and be able to liaise with patients, relatives and other members of the multidisciplinary team as well as you colleagues on the ward.

We require you to be committed to undertaking ongoing training and development and we will ensure you receive a full induction period to the ward as well as full support from the ward.

Post registration experience required.

The Surgical Assessment Unit is a busy unit and requires someone that is able to prioritise their time effectively and efficiently whilst responding to a high level of admissions and movement through the area.
• To work as a registered nurse within a ward team within the SACCT Division
• To prioritise and deliver nursing care and assessment as needed.
• To demonstrate high standards of care and set examples of best practise within the delivery of patient care.
• To liaise with other departments and staff to ensure that patient care is delivered.
• To ensure patients’ safety, privacy and dignity is maintained at all times.
• To support the nurse in charge of the ward and liaise with other departments and professionals to ensure that the needs of the ward are met.
• Following appropriate development to take charge of the ward and oversee patient admissions and transfers and the care delivered by other staff.
