Are you a qualified Therapist, Social Worker, or Registered Mental Nurse (RMN) or hold an equivalent Mental Health qualification?

Are you skilled in assessing, planning and evaluating suitability of patients with moderate mental health problems for a service providing Psychological Therapy?

If so come and join our Daily Supervisor Team here at NHS Berkshire Talking Therapies. You will be part of a committed team of clinicians within the CQC rated ‘outstanding’ Trust.

The post is ideal for someone looking for a hybrid home / office role in our highly successful IAPT Talking Therapies service, read on to find out more.

The post holder will provide direction and support to Therapists and Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners, Talking Therapies Admin and wellbeing Teams, primary and secondary care mental health teams withing BHFT.

The role also involves reviewing referrals coming into Talking Therapies, making decisions on the suitability of referrals, and signposting or redirecting referrals where not appropriate for talking Therapies.

The post holder will work with people with different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary and should be committed to equal opportunities.

Part of this role will include being on duty for the Clinical Escalations Group (CEG).

Key Responsibilities

Clinical:
1. To screen referrals and determine the appropriateness for primary care IAPT service.
2. To process appropriate referrals in accordance with service protocols.
3. To utilize theory, evidence based literature and research to support evidence based practice.
4. To maintain proper and appropriate liaison with GP’s regarding client care
5. To establish and maintain a safe, comfortable therapeutic environment for clients who may be distressed.
6. To signpost / refer on clients where appropriate and to discuss with the Line Manager and/or the clinical Supervisor any inappropriate clients or clients where an obvious course of action is not clear.
7. To attend supervision meetings.
8. To attend regular interface referrals meetings with services from across the trust.
9. To undertake risk assessments and risk management for all clients.
10. To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment and screening of clients.

The “must haves” for this role:
1. Will have good listening skills along with the ability to build rapport with colleagues and to be able to offer support to the wider team. To feel confident to liaise with members of other teams/services to ensure that clients are given the support they need.
2. Will be registered with a professional body BABCP, HPCC, NMC registered or other IAPT recognised accreditation.
3. Able to develop good therapeutic relationships with clients.
4. Must have a good knowledge and understanding of the stepped care model and be able to screen for suitability for a primary care IAPT intervention.
