Summary

About the @one Alliance

The Anglian Water @one Alliance is a totally collaborative organisation made up of seven partner companies (Anglian Water, SWECO, Balfour Beatty, Barhale, MMB, MWH Treatment, and Skanska) and an extended supply chain, delivering over half of Anglian Water’s capital investment programme.

Now working in the latest Asset Management Period, known as AMP 7, we are working towards delivering an approximate £1.8bn programme of work until 2025. Are you ready to join us as we aim to deliver the most exciting and innovative AMP we have ever seen?

With around 800 projects being worked on across the region, we work closely with Anglian Water and their customers to deliver the best infrastructure and non-infrastructure solutions to keep the water flowing.

Do you have what it takes to transform society?

With a large ramp up of work in front of us, we have a host of engineering projects which require our Delivery team to provide enthusiasm and innovation to deliver engineering excellence. To provide engineering technical direction to the discipline engineers in either water or water recycling non-infrastructure projects, we are looking for a Lead Civil Engineer to join the team!

What will you be doing as our new Principal Civil Engineer?

As our new Principal Civil Engineer, you will Lead the Civil Engineering discipline to create and develop value-driven solutions that achieve our capital investment programme outcomes.

Key responsibilities:

Lead the civil engineering strategy for the @one alliance.

Develop new ways of working that focus on delivering outcomes, rather than outputs, to reduce carbon, protect and increase natural capital, address climate change, and embrace innovations and new technologies.

Working collaboratively with Project Managers, Quantity Surveyors, Procurement, Enabling and Construction Manager, on a diverse programme of water recycling and infrastructure.

Ensure the civil design outputs consider health & safety, the environment, construction, procurement, the customer, and Anglian Water Operations’ needs.

Own and drive the development of standard products and promote their use within the delivery teams.

Using the principle of best for task, support the Design Managers and Civil Leads to assess the complexity of designs and assign suitably competent resources and specialists, from solution definition to detailed design.

Identify health, safety and welfare issues with team members and seek support to manage.

Monitor and assess the competency and performance of suppliers’ and subcontractor design.

Support creating a positive and fulfilling environment, where everyone is respected and heard, treated equally, recognised, and diversity is embraced.

Lead the creation, or the introduction, of new and advancing techniques and technology.

Understand portfolio outcomes and obligations, and through the management of civil design from solution to detailed design, seek and deliver opportunities to achieve value.

Support lead and discipline engineers to choose appropriate design methods and deliver their engineering outputs to time and quality standards.

A little bit about your skills, experience and behaviours….

To join us on the team, you’ll hold a degree in Engineering or equivalent and be a Charted Engineer. It’s preferable that you will have experience working in the Water Industry on water-sector asset and capital projects. Ideally experience in a Design & Build environment but its not essential.

We’re looking for an individual who can make decisions, provide senior-level leadership in discipline, health, safety, and welfare. With outside the box thinking - seeking sustainable solutions to reduce long-term impacts.

If you are looking for an opportunity to take the next step in your Principal Civil Engineering career with an industry- leading alliance, please apply today!
