The Assistant Facilities Manager works as part of a team delivering all support services to the Trust and performs duties in accordance with the site specification.

The post holder will ensure a high standard of service is maintained in all areas of responsibility and will work in the required manner to ensure that an efficient service is provided at all times.

Manage & support a team with the following
• Ensuring rosters are covered. Allocation of work to catering assistants. Liaise with management to ensure there is a continuation of service in the event of major staff shortages. Priorities urgent requests. Authorise overtime within the allocated budget.
• Carry out staff appraisals, training and managing sickness

• To provide a localised service observing health, safety and hygiene procedures and maintaining high standards in all aspects.
• To deliver good principles of customer care ensuring helpfulness, awareness and compassion to patients, visitors, staff and colleagues.
• To undertake training as required to fulfil this role and any further training which will enhance both personal effectiveness and also the delivery of high standards of service.
• To work co-operatively with colleagues as part of the team and perform additional duties as and when directed by the facilities manager.
• Attend meetings as requested with both managers and service users.
• Carry out regular Supervisor 1-1 meetings to assist in effective two-way communication and to communicate the Trust’s aims and objectives to Supervisors to then cascade to staff.
• Control staffing worked hours, organising workloads fairly and ensuring that labour hours are kept within the master rota.
• Ensure Health and Safety compliance including conducting investigations into any accidents and the development and documentation of Risk Assessments.
• Development of local work schedules highlighting and monitoring general working practices and providing comprehensive and easily understood written instructions.
• To assist the Management team with the day to day management of external contracts and suppliers.
• To be flexible in their working hours as so to carry out duties to sustain operational demands.
• To ensure that all staff mandatory training is completed as per the required compliance
• At the direction of the facilities manager to undertake a range of projects involving multidisciplinary teams to critically evaluate new methods of working and initiatives directed by the Trust.
