We have a fantastic opportunity for a brilliant Support Worker like you to join our fabulous and supportive team. Our Extra Care Community Wellbeing service in Wallsend provides support to our brilliant customers who are aged 55 and over. Rated Good across all areas at our recent CQC inspection, we are proud and passionate about the high standards of care and support that we deliver.
Our Care team provide support to up to 45 customers who live at Homeside Lodge. We support our brilliant customers to maintain their independence in their own self-contained flats within a large community wellbeing scheme. Our brilliant Care staff provide support with all aspects of personal care, medication administration and ensuring our customers’ nutritional and hydration needs are met.
Our customers have a range of care and housing needs inclusive of dementia, complex health and learning disabilities and our staff are trained in providing the best care to suit their needs. We fully promote enablement ensuring our customers are living as independently as possible within their home.
Typical day as our Supported Living Worker
• Assisting customers with practical, daily living tasks to develop their independence, helping them to achieve the goals, aspirations and outcomes documented in their support plans.
• Support to attend appointments, take part in hobbies and interests or attend college or work
• Supporting customers with their personal care and medication needs outlined in their support plan
• Carrying out risk assessments, support planning, goal setting and regular reviews.
• Cuppas, chats and catch ups. There’s no rushing from one customer to the next here! Plenty of time to work together with colleagues too.

You have
• A Level 2 Health and Social Care Certificate or are prepared to work towards it!
• Passion to support our customers to live their best life, working together with an eye for detail
• Experience of caring for others, you may have worked in care before or have experience of caring for others such as family members or children
• Experience of working on own initiative, remaining calm under pressure and having a resilient approach
• A flexible, personal approach, listening to customers to understand their needs, recognising every customer is different
Due to limits on our current certificates of sponsorship, we are not able to offer sponsorship to external candidates for this role.  This remains under regular review

You will be working alongside four Coordinators and our Client Service Manager to support and lead our amazing team of Support Workers to provide the highest standards of care to our older customers.
Job details
• At Homeside Lodge, we provide 24-hour support to our customers each day and every day. You’ll work on a rolling rota basis and take your turn working days, evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
• We need you to be flexible to meet the needs of our customers, but we aim to give you the time you need to spend time doing the things that matter to you!
• Able to use technology to update support plans, complete online learning and to collaborate with colleagues.
• You’ll need an Enhanced DBS check done and we pay for that.
