Summary

These roles would suit a couple, or friends who can work together.

Set in the heart of Glencoe, we have a small number of static caravans, eco pods, a log cabin, bunkhouse and cottage. We welcome a range of guests from families and friends to outdoor enthusiasts.

We are open year-round, so these are permanent jobs (not seasonal).

What you’ll be doing:

  • Day-to-day running of the business
  • Cleaning accommodation between guests
  • Maintenance of the accommodation (handyperson tasks)
  • Maintenance of the grounds (lawn mowing, hedges, fences, etc)
  • Laundry and ironing (roller iron provided)
  • Customer Service - answering the phone, managing the booking system and answering emails
  • Guest interaction – friendly exchanges and sharing of local knowledge with guests on-site
  • Ordering of stock (cleaning products, guest welcome packs, etc)
  • Cash handling – while most payments are done online, a small amount of petty cash handling is required
  • Out of hours on-call on working days
  • Anything else reasonably expected to keep the business in top shape!

Both staff members will be needed to clean properties daily, as this is the majority of the work. Other duties can be split between the staff members to fit with expertise and skillsets, e.g. one focused on maintenance, one focused on customer service and laundry.

The work can be quite physical - you’ll benefit from a daily work-out changing beds and folding sheets!

The nature of the job is that during working days, there is an element of being ‘always on’ as you’ll be on-call to customers. For example, guests may need help with the hot water not working at 8pm, or can’t work the key in the lock on arrival, or want to phone to make or check their booking. We need staff that can meet each challenge with a smile on their face and a can-do attitude. While we don’t expect you to be on site all the time whilst on-call, you will need to be somewhere nearby.

What we’re offering:

  • Year-round work
  • Option for Accommodation provided on site
  • Minimum 5 hours work daily (10-3pm) x 5 days a week, Thursday – Monday (tbc)
  • Additional hours may be required during the busy season up to 35 hours weekly.
  • Weekend work expected
  • Two (weekday) days off a week – concurrent days where possible and together where possible if a couple – exact arrangements to be agreed during interview process
  • On-call during working days – managing the phone and any onsite problems during on-call hours 9am-9pm (and emergencies outside these hours).
  • Pay: £13 an hour
  • End of season bonus
  • Holidays accrued per hour of work (roughly 5-6 weeks a year) – ideally to be taken outside of school holidays (our busiest periods)
  • NEST pension scheme

About Us

We (Cat and Phil) took over in September 2023, so we’re fairly new to the business (and the sector). We have a young family and live on-site. We do all the background admin and accounts for the business, and the big picture thinking (we have development plans for the site), but we need support for the day-to-day running of the business.

Heart of Glencoe Holidays is based right in the middle of the mountains in this stunning area of the West Highlands - a great base for exploring. There is an award-winning pub just down the road with regular live music events, and loads of outdoor activities (walking, climbing, cycling, kayaking, skiing, etc) on the doorstep.

We like to provide guests with comfortable, affordable accommodation, with a few little extra touches to brighten up the day.

You can see the business at our website: www.heartofglencoe.co.uk

To apply: Please send your CVs to cat@heartofglencoe.co.uk. We are happy to have informal chats over the phone first: ring Cat on 07757 542956. Please also feel free to note your interest in the roles while you take time to prepare your CV if you’re not able to apply instantly.

Start date: Immediately, or early-mid April if possible, to allow for a handover with the outgoing staff.
