Summary

We are seeking an experienced, strategic, training and events lead to create and deliver an ambitious programme of training and professional events to promote the work of the newly established Office for Place; and to ensure that its learning and expertise is shared across the sector to support its objectives. Building upon an existing and highly successful programme, you will be responsible for further developing and enhancing this work moving it to the next level to support our ongoing development and objectives. This will require you to work across the organisation to understand and capture our developing insights, experiences and learning and to ensure that our future events promote these and our wider work across the sector and to a variety of stakeholders and interested individuals.

The role will be managed by the Head of Policy and Engagement (G6) and will work in a small team of c 8 FTE, and across the organisation of 24 FTE at full capacity.

We are currently working in a start-up phase and will be recruiting to several roles across different disciplines, we expect all appointed candidates to work flexibility across the organisation and to recognise that job roles may be adjusted as the organisation grows to full capacity over the coming year. Your responsibilities will include:

• The creation of a strategic training and events programme for the Office for Place

• Leading on the delivery of the training and events programme including online and in-person events, developing the annual the Office for Place events strategy and delivering at least 12 events per year.

• Working with Office for Place colleagues (coding, research, stakeholder) and other stakeholders to ensure the events programme supports and aligns with their needs, outputs and key messages.

• Leading on the delivery of the Office for Place’s bespoke training offer, working with partner organisations to develop and commission the offer, and external and internal stakeholders to ensure it meets the needs of local planning authorities and other stakeholders.

• Working with partners to ensure the Office for Place’s training and events programmes make a unique and clear contribution as part of the wider training and personal development offer.

• Reporting to the Office for Place Board and its Expert Advisory Panel at regular intervals on progress and seeking their input on future plans.

• Line managing an SEO events assistant.
