Rates: £93,666 - £126,281 per annum

Relocation package: £1,000 - £18,000 dependent on eligibility

Hours: Full time, part time and flexible working considered

Location: Arrowe Park Hospital

Essential Criteria;

  • Current GMC full registration & licence to practise, MRCP & entry on GMC specialist register for Dermatology or within 12 months of CCT date or expected Portfolio Pathway (previously CESR) approval.

  • Ability to demonstrate independent clinical experience, knowledge and skill in Dermatology at Consultant level.

  • Minimum 6 months experience.

  • The post will include participation in the daytime on-call rota. There are no out of hours on-call or weekend cover (however Bank Holiday day time cover is provided).

  • 10 PAs plus additional 2 available

  • The CV must demonstrate the experience and competencies for this level/specialty

  • The team are open to discussions re flexible job plans and will endeavour to support an individuals special interest.

  • Shortlisted Candidates will be expected to attend a Technical Specification Panel, which can be arranged virtually, and an Advisory Appointment Committee which will be in person.

Desirable Criteria;

  • Experience of supervising SpRs/specialist trainees.
  • Experience of working in or setting up a clinical decision unit service
  • Experience in running and delivering clinical trials

Main duties of the job

The trust provides a full range of dermatology services; there are two dedicated dermatological theatres and facilities for PDT, phototherapy and patch testing. Day case theatres for complex surgical procedures are available. Specialist Nurse led services include dermatological surgery, skin cancer clinics, leg ulcers/ Lymphoedema management, cryotherapy, diphencyprone therapy, treatments for hyperhidrosis and chronic disease monitoring. There are close links with other specialties, such as Maxillofacial surgery, Plastic surgery and Rheumatology.

The post will be based at York Hospital however flexible job plans to suit applicants can be discussed and may include working at one of our peripheral hospitals. We currently cover dermatology services in York, Scarborough, Malton and Selby, to support our services consultants are expected to work cross site.

Successful candidates would be encouraged to develop a special interest that would support the department. There is an expectation that the post will include participation in the daytime on call cover which is supported by our two specialty trainees. Posts would include undergraduate and postgraduate teaching; the department has close links with Hull and York Medical School (HYMS) offering interested candidate's opportunities for extended undergraduate teaching or the development of roles within the medical school.
