Summary
The post is for 4 months from 03/04/24 - 06/08/24.
The Obstetric Service covers the Obstetric needs of the entire population of the Hillingdon Area and includes, increasingly, a part of Ealing, Harrow and South Bucks. The annual delivery rate is 4200. There is a purpose built 12-room delivery suite which has recently been refurbished, in addition to the antenatal and post natal wards. The gynaecological out patient services are centralised in the Cumberlege Unit, which includes general gynaecology clinics, colposcopy, fertility, urogynaecology and urodynamics. EGAU – Emergency gynaecology assessment unit including EPAU (early pregnancy assessment unit) which is located on the Cumberlege unit
Medical Students form Imperial College rotate through the department.
Regular departmental meetings for education, audit and administration occur. There is teaching for the junior doctors within the department at lunchtimes through the week. There is an active Postgraduate Centre, at Hillingdon, with an appropriate programme especially for doctors entering general practice.
The post is for 4 months from 03/04/24 - 06/08/24.
Clinical:
Routine ward management, both Obstetric and Gynaecology outpatient attendance with consultant and registrar supervision. There will be on call duties on selected weekend with the internal medicine team. There will be no oncall duties in obstetrics and gynaecology. There are opportunities to develop skills and competencies to those of SHO level under supervision if required.
There will also be opportunity to be involved in clinical audit.
Teaching:
There is regular departmental teaching for junior staff Monday lunchtime and Thursday am in addition to clinical meetings Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
