We have an exciting opportunity to lead our established nursing service in a job share arrangement with the current post holder. This is a senior nursing role as a Lead Clinical Nurse Specialist for Breast Cancer services. You will work cross site at our Colchester and Ipswich Hospitals, where Ipswich Hospital have a new Breast Unit. This post is part time 18.75 hours per week.
Combining your leadership skills and expert breast care knowledge, you will manage a team of breast care nurse specialists and continue to undertake clinical duties to ensure you are leading the service, maintaining best practice and supporting the development of core nursing skills within the team.
You will work to ensure the service continues to deliver high quality care and maintains the clinical standards expected within the service. You will drive the service forwards and support implementation of NHS and trust strategic aims within the service including person centred care

In this role you will line manage, lead and provide a supportive environment to the Breast Cancer care nursing team, ensuring seamless care is provided. You will also develop, implement and evaluate programmes of nursing care and competencies. You will demonstrate high quality care, supporting the MDT by inputting into audit, quality surveillance and complaints, implementing sustainable action plans where necessary.
As the Lead Clinical Nurse Specialist, part of your role will involve providing care, support and expert advice to patients who are diagnosed with Breast Cancer. This includes practicing autonomously and being self-directed within appropriately defined boundaries of practice. You will provide clinical support in the following areas: seroma drainage, lymphoedema management and breast examination.
Another part of the role will be participating in the development of Breast Cancer Services, contributing to business planning, income and expenditure monitoring and taking corrective actions supported by the General Manager. In conjunction with the General Manager you will also support the cancer waiting times process.
