We are looking for a committed support worker to enabling a young woman to remain independent and access age-appropriate activities in the community.
She lives in the Allendale area and a car driver is essential. A mobility car is available for use to access appropriate activities with the young woman.
The support is to promote her independence and allow her family carers a break from this role.
The young woman has a neurological disorder called RETTS syndrome. She is non-verbal and uses a range of alternative methods to communicate. The young woman has hypermobility, she is mobile but requires the use of a wheelchair for longer activities. She needs support with all aspects of her daily routine including personal care.
The ideal applicant will be:
· Female due to the personal care involved in the role· Have experience supporting nonverbal individuals – formal or informal· Physically able to manage mobility and the demands of using a wheelchair· Be confident to build relationship and read emotions from facial expressions· A car driver able to access the client location· Be over 21 years old due to insurance age restrictions on the mobility car available
Rate of Pay: £13.09 per hour
Hours Breakdown:
10 hours per week.
Preferably to be 5 hours on a Monday and 5 hours on a Friday
(this could be a Thursday or a Sunday ad hoc to meet availability)
Overnights are also available to support the client in her own home whilst family are having an extended break. This will be discussed at interview but is no more than once per month.
An enhanced disclosure and barring certificate will be required and the cost of such will be met with the employer.
Where applicable full training in all aspects of care will be provided including safeguarding, medication and moving and handling as some of the main areas.
