We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and proactive pharmacy technician to join our ward-level clinical team at Wirral University Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. We are a busy department and are looking for a highly motivated individual that shares our vision and is looking for a new challenge.

It is essential that you can work accurately under pressure and possess the ability to manage and prioritise your workload efficiently ensuring a high level of professionalism, alongside providing a high-quality service to our patients.

Applicants will be patient-focused, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and passionate about upholding Trust values in order to provide the best possible service.
• Provide the medicines management service to designated ward areas as part of theclinical pharmacy team, which involves following relevant medicines managementprocedures in order to deliver the service in a safe and effective manner but working unsupervised in clinical areas.
• Take drug histories on admission areas and in other areas on request.
• Assess patient’s own drugs to ensure they are labelled appropriately and meet required standards for administration. This involves checking the suitability ofpatient’s own drugs i.e. correct patient name on label, expiry date, re-labelling ifnecessary and gaining patient consent for the use or destruction of medication brought into hospital.
• Provide appropriate supplies of inpatient medicines for bedside administration (stockand non-stock medicines).
• Initiate supply of non-stock items for one-stop dispensing i.e., ordering medicationlabelled ready for discharge when appropriate and ensure that sufficient supplies of medication are available in each patient’s.
• Undertake competency- b a s e d training in the administration of medicines and beproficient at administering oral and inhaled medications, eye/ear/nasaldrops/ointment/sprays and topical patches.
• Administer medications, including controlled drugs, to inpatients accurately against an electronic prescription chart in a safe and timely manner.
• Take drug histories on admission areas and in other areas on request.
