Summary
Cheltenham Borough Homes are looking for a Housing Options Officer to provide a comprehensive service to households who are homeless or in housing need by undertaking homelessness assessments and advising about housing options, with the view to preventing homelessness wherever possible, or relieving homelessness. You will work with clients providing advice and guidance to intervene, prevent where possible or seek to resolve homelessness.
Often working alongside partner agencies you will help provide solutions for those in housing need and intervene where possible to keep households in their current home.
You will be part of a great team who work flexibly to help ensure we provide a great service to those seeking our help
Essential qualities for role:
Ability to make things happen with a positive ‘can do’ attitude
Good communication skills with clients, colleagues and partner agencies, taking a trauma informed approach
Record of forming effective relationships with other agencies assisting clients facing homelessness
Knowledge of and ability to find solutions and prevent homelessness through negotiation, mediation, and taking a pro-active approach
Understanding and knowledge of homelessness legislation and previous experience of putting this into practice
Great IT skills, including Microsoft office and bespoke housing software
Excellent time management and casework skills are required as is the ability to work under pressure
You will be resilient, empathetic, with great motivational skills
You need to drive and have a vehicle available for work.
We are working to a proposed interview date of Tuesday 9th April 2024.
