Summary
The post holder’s duties will involve the work tasks mentioned below.
The Preparation and cooking of dishes using a Tandoori (Clay Oven) using different blends of spices and herbs for Tandoori dishes.
Creating tandoori dishes using their existing speciality knowledge. Also testing ingredients and flavours and buying necessary items to make new dishes as required.
Monitoring food stock level, researching and negotiating with food suppliers and placing of orders as required for tandoori dish preparation
Preparing and cooking tandoori dishes in the kitchen area in accordance with food safety policies and procedures and supervising junior kitchen staff as required.
Working closely with Tandoori Chef, and in co-operation with other Chefs and other colleagues. When required, train junior colleagues in food preparation and presentation tasks.
The Second Tandoori Chef will be required to place orders for raw and cooked food products, attend meetings to suggest costing of dishes and assisting with updating the Restaurant Menu for Tandoori dishes in collaboration with the Tandoori Chef.
Must also fully comply with all health and safety regulations and food handling procedures at all times whilst on the business premises.
The Second Tandoori Chef will also be prepared to participate in marketing publication and business promotional activities.
Skills, Experience/Qualification
It is essential that applicants have the necessary experience and skills as a Second Tandoori Chef to successfully carry out the duties of the post as detailed above and be prepared to attend in-house food safety training course(s) before starting employment. Candidates are expected to have a minimum of 3 years of prior work experience as a Second Tandoori Chef.
