The vacancy could be based at any of the 6 hospital sites within the Berkshire Surrey Pathology network of hospitals. Frimley Health - Wexham and Frimley, the Royal Surrey County Hospital - Guildford, Royal Berkshire Hospital - Reading, Ashford and St Peters Hospitals – Chertsey and East Surrey Hospital SASH Reigate.

We care currently looking for staff in focused areas - Reigate, Guildford, Chertsey and Reading.

This role is a great opportunity for a science minded person to develop their knowledge and skill set in a laboratory/clinical environment.

The role is focused on sample processing and reporting for the Rapid Respiratory virus testing service including CoVid.

The Point of Care Team co-ordinates the appraisal, introduction, and use of analytical devices in wards, clinics and departments within the hospital trusts and in the community, allowing pathology results to be produced nearer the patient.





BSPS run CoVid testing services from all hospitals in the BSPS network - Frimley Park in Frimley near Camberley, Wexham Park near Slough, Guildford Royal Surrey Foundation Trust, St Peter's Chertsey near Woking, and Royal Berkshire Reading. We are looking for an enthusiastic and confident individual to work as part of the Point of Care Testing Team, providing a 24/7 service processing samples to investigate for CoVid and other respiratory viruses, some of the post will be in supporting Point of Care equipment users. The service focuses on virus testing methods but blood gas analysers, full blood count analysers, blood glucose meters, urinalysis devices are covered by point of care staff.

The ability to follow standardised processes is vital, attention to detail, ability to work under pressure, good communication skills and team working are essential.

The work entails day to cover of processing samples in the room, interacting with clinical staff and other Trust employees.

Keeping detail records of data required to monitor the quality of the service we provide.

Multi tasking and working under pressure is important to the service to facilitate strict results turnaround times.

The ability to travel between sites and work flexibly is essential. The service requires the successful applicants to work day andnightshifts including weekend.
