Summary

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for an Assistant Theatre Manager who has excellent people management/leadership skills, effective communication and organisational skills and is able to pay close attention to detail.
The Theatre is currently closed and undergoing major improvement works and is scheduled to re-open in Summer 2024. The organisation is looking to have an Assistant Theatre Manager in place ready for when the doors re-open to showcase the fabulous new look. They will need the successful candidate to assist the Theatre Manager to lead with a creative vision that maintains and strengthens its strong identity and reputation.
The ideal candidate for Assistant Theatre Manager will revel in meeting the needs of all customers in a polite and professional manner, going over and above to ensure they have the best experience at the venue. You will need to demonstrate a high level of personal motivation by adopting and continuous high profile around the theatre for customers.
This is a diverse role that supports and assists the Theatre Manager with the smooth operational running of the theatre whilst having a hands-on approach to ensure the theatre is always ready to welcome hirers and customers alike.

DUTIES
Your duties as the Assistant Theatre Manager include:
• Ensure the smooth and secure opening and closing of the facility
• Supervise the work undertaken by all colleagues
• Assist the Manager in ensuring the efficient induction and effective training of new colleagues as and when required
• In conjunction with the Theatre Manager or in their absence the completion and issuing of colleague rotas
• Lead and manage service standards across all Front of House including the bars and hospitality
• Duty Manage a wide variety of events including live music, theatre, pantomime, comedy, festivals, rehearsals, workshops, fairs and community events
• Provide an exceptional customer experience
• liaise with external contractors and to ensure any minor operational repairs/maintenance are carried
• Work alongside the Theatre Manager to ensure all department paperwork and training is completed
• Responsible for the setting out of equipment, chairs and any other requirements requested by the hirer is in place for all shows and events
• Assist in the collection and banking of all monies and the maintenance of accurate records
• Responsible for the Health and Safety of both customers and colleagues when on duty
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
• GCSE English and Maths or equivalent
• Transferable people management skills
• Duty management experience within the arts industry
• Administrative cash handling skills
• Excellent customer service skills including complaint handling
• The ability to motivate and manage staff
• Demonstrate effective communication skills
• The ability to pay close attention to detail and to follow formal procedures
• Training and supervision of staff
• Great organisational skills
• Teamwork and leadership skills
• Basic understanding of targets and KPI’s
• Understand the importance of a balanced programme
• Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
• Multitasking and time management skills
DESIRABLE
• Health and safety issues relevant to the Leisure & Entertainment industry
• First aid certificate
