Purpose of the Vacancy:

  • The Principal Digital Architect leads the design and development of architectures, which are aligned with group standards, IT and business strategy, meet business objectives and satisfy all relevant regulatory and operational risk controls. The position holder is responsible for participating and assuring the operation of the global practice of architecture within Digital.
  • Digital is the electronic front door for our commercial customers, and the Digital team is responsible for developing, building, and improving on the digital banking platforms that our business customers use.
  • Our customers are our digital business banking customers. Large commercial and global banking customers use our platforms to transact, while small to medium-sized commercial customers use Digital Business Banking (DBB) platforms and emerging solutions such as Kinetic and Quantum.
  • The goal of the Corporate Platform is to provide a platform upon which digital services, such as the transformed payments platform and trade finance can be build, deployed, run, and monitored, enabling us to respond to the evolving needs of our clients more efficiently while addressing the deficiencies of heritage solutions.
  • Transform the infrastructure from development through the route to live to production, enabling provisioning, elasticity, resilience and recoverability in line with business requirements.
  • Transform development and the ability to deliver to market with continuous delivery pipeline tooling, including the integration of automated deployment and testing, functional and non-functional, to support agile delivery and a greater throughput of change, while lowering release risk.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the definition on the Wholesale Digital strategy. Define and sell a vision, but with the ability to deliver incrementally and provide immediate value to the stakeholders.
  • Shaping the architecture roadmap within Digital and implementing technology strategy.
  • Define, maintain and own the enterprise architecture plan, ensuring alignment to strategies, and provide overarching Design Authority accountability for major change initiatives across Wholesale Digital Technology.
  • Provide end-to-end ownership of technology solutions delivered to meet requirements, delivering the architecture required to realize both functional and non-functional capabilities
  • Stay abreast of technology and/or data and analytic trends and advise Technology, DAO and the business about potential benefits/impacts
  • Participate in clear choice and RFP process as required
  • Conduct PoC's to prove the complex technology decisions
  • Ensure IT principles, technology standards and the best practices are applied correctly
  • Conduct or participate architectural reviews. Own and manage the architectural risks
  • Lead architects across multiple programs & DevOps pods providing an escalation point for decision making
  • Ability to create clear, concise proposals for solutions and brokering agreement across multiple stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates excellent situational awareness and ability to appropriately react to a changing landscape
  • Performance driven nature and excellent problem solving capability
  • Ability to understand and further explain complex technical concepts

Your background:

  • Experience in an enterprise environment including an understanding of traditional processes and procedures and how they may impact a Digital transformation.
  • Experience in leading the definition of Digital architecture and roadmaps across a large business unit
  • Experience of implementing solutions based on Backbase CXP
  • Experience with Front end development technologies (JavaScript, Angular, REACT), Node
  • Experience of mobile application design and development
  • Strong knowledge Identity and Access Management, Knowledge of client side applications and microservices architecture.
  • Experience in build and design of REST API's
  • Experience in agile development practices
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Financial Services industry including industry trends, competitive pressures, product and service offerings and organisational operating models.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in line with our standards including acting with integrity and ethically.
  • Ability to think logically and abstract the architectural patterns from the technical solutions.
