Summary

Job summary Castle Surgery is a friendly and supportive GP practice in Neath Town Centre providing primary care service to our 10,017 patients. We are one of the eight practices in the Neath Cluster. Main duties of the job To provide, as part of a core multi-disciplinary team, a high quality general medical service to the registered patients of the practice (including temporary residents)o To provide consultation and appropriate clinical management of patients attending the practice, or to those where a home visit is clinically necessary To provide leadership, clinical oversight and direction to the rest of the clinical team To provide telephone consultation or Face to Face consultation and appropriate management of patients who contact the practice. To keep accurate and legible records of all patient contacts and contribute to electronic data recording and audit as directed by the service. There are no personalised patient lists and we operate a streamlined efficient document/pathology/radiology workflow The post-holder will make him/herself available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery face to face, telephone and online consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries. Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation. Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems. Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness. In consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health. Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate. Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards. Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate. In general the post-holder will be expected to undertake all normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care. Opportunities will be available for teaching and development of special interests. The Practice is willing to wait for the right candidate and we would welcome newly qualified GPs. Job details - Salaried GP - four to six sessions per week Salary - TBC Tier 2 Visa sponsorship Terms in line with BMA Contract. Start date as soon as possible. We currently use the Vision clinical system but will be transferring to Emis system in the near future.
