Summary

Support Worker

We have a fantastic opportunity for someone to join us in the position of Support Worker in London. Our customers have a variety of needs including dual diagnosis, personality disorders, substance misuse, dementia and those with a forensic history. Our mental health accommodation schemes benefit from a high quality, homely living environment. Customers are placed where they feel comfortable and supported. Our schemes are purpose-built to meet customer’s needs, minimise risk and promote independence.

  • Salary: £26,037 per year
  • Location: Maygrove Road, Camden, NW6 2EE (please consider the location and your route before applying)
  • Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Rolling Rota - 8am-4pm / 1pm-9pm - Sleep ins are included in the rota (additional sleep-in shift allowance will be paid)

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out assessment to identify and prioritise needs.
  • Using SMART goal planning to provide needs led holistic support.
  • Developing and maintaining positive links with key stakeholders
  • Creating an environment that promotes opportunities for customers to develop, learn and enable skills towards independence.
  • Where required observing customers taking their medication & ensure appropriate records are maintained.
  • Providing a comprehensive support planning service to customers in line with the department’s policies, procedures and approach
  • In accommodation-based services, liaising closely with the Housing Management Team to identify problems with Housing Benefit payments, review rent collection and address other tenancy-related matters.
  • Supporting customers to develop the necessary skills to live independently, and to access training, education and work.

What you will need to succeed

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience of working within a supported living service within the mental health sector.
  • Experience working with vulnerable adults with challenging behaviours.
  • Experience of undertaking customer assessments, support planning and key-working with a clear outcome focus.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to prioritise workload. Must be able to work shift rota.
  • The ability to communicate effectively in writing including the preparation of letters, reports and file notes.
