A young man in the Alnwick area is looking to recruit an enabler to support him in and around his local community.

The family are looking for enabler to support this young man with socialising and accessing the local community, and take a person-centered approach to any activities this young man chooses to engage in.

He likes to look around the game shops, go to the cinema, eat out at a café/restaurant.

As well as playing on his PlayStation and Xbox consoles, he loves Dr Who and enjoys going to Comicon conventions and museums. He also enjoys going bowling.
Alnwick

Hours of work: 5hrs per week
Rate of Pay: £13.09 per hour
Location: Alnwick area

Main Duties: To support a young gentleman who has a learning disability to promote independence, communication skills and fitness, mainly in the Alnwick area, while acting as a 'support buddy', encouraging his interests while taking a person-centered approach. The role requires close personal contact with an individual who is extremely vulnerable to the risk of infection and disease transmission. Preference may be given to applicants who have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19. Careful consideration will be given to applicants who can show the vaccination is not suitable for them on reasonable grounds.

Personal specification:
Car driver preferred.
Calm, patient, fun, honest and reliable, and with a caring nature.
Punctual, trustworthy and able to respect confidentiality. Have a happy positive outlook and an outgoing personality.
Ability to both take instructions and use own initiative.
Experience in health & social care desirable – awareness of learning disabilities, autism and mental health needs.

Further Information: An Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Certificate (DBS) will have to be obtained for the successful candidate (at employer’s expense). Training: Where it is required, such as in Health and Safety matters, practical training and guidance will be arranged, and the care worker will be expected to attend. This will include moving and handling, medication awareness and additional training specific to the client.
