Job description: Social care work opportunity for a Personal Assistant.

Listed below are details of the job and what tasks are involved. It is essential to refer to these when submitting an application and advise of the days/hours you are available.

Job purpose: Become a friend to a 14 year old girl with complex needs, enabling her to experience the childhood that she deserves.

The complex needs includes traits of ADHD, ASD, emotional dysregulation, learning difficulties, and sensory processing. She is very vulnerable, with the cognitive age of a young child, learning at key stage one and below.

Taking her out and about to places of interest, such as; Bowling, cinema, swimming, lunch, and any social activities she wishes to get involved with.

- Activities at home

- The successful candidate would need to have the ability to explain things in very small sentences, which may need to be repeated more than once, allowing her time to process what has been said.

- Routine is a MUST and would need to be fixed, she relies on routine all the time. She would need to know the structure for the day ahead.

- Requires a lot of attention, can be easily distracted.

- Can become very volatile and unpredictable at times, becoming very irritated, expressing her emotions by shouting, swearing, and occasional physical touching.

- Boundaries will be tested, therefore patience is a MUST

-No days are the same

-She works well with social stories, and now and next boards.

Summary Terms and Conditions

  • The rate of pay for this position is £12 p/h.
  • Hours and times of work as follows: 3 out of 4 Saturdays, 3hrs a week, during term time. During summer holidays, and half term, weekday work would be required, with the potential for more hours.
  • Casual informal interview to take place
  • Safeguarding will be discussed in greater detail with successful applicant.
  • A satisfactory enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check, the cost of which will be covered by the employer
  • Completion of a satisfactory probation period of 3 months.
  • The annual holiday entitlement for this position will be equivalent to the work I would normally expect to be done during 5.6 consecutive weeks.

    You will be required undertake annual training.
