I am a 20 year old male with a progressive muscle wasting condition and a full time wheelchair user, looking to employ a personal assistant for 24 hours weekly who is able to assist me in accessing the community and social activities. My main hobby is wheelchair football and I currently play and compete for Norwich City Powerchair Football Club. In addition I enjoy music particularly playing the drums. I am currently seeking part time paid employment, to assist with this I attend voluntary work. Your role will be essential in helping me to access these activities, driving my wheelchair accessible van. I also need somebody who will encourage me to engage in other social activities which will enhance my wellbeing and promote my independence. This role involves assisting with daily life activities, providing personal care, and fostering an environment that promotes independence. In addition, you will be responsible for various domestic tasks.

Job Description:

Assisting with daily living activities, personal hygiene, and personal care.
To ensure my safety during our outings. This includes assisting me in and out of the car, making sure I'm securely seated, and providing any necessary support.

To accompany me on trips, drive a wheelchair-accessible van, and join in on social outings like meeting friends and visiting the cinema including work which would be Monday-Friday flexible days.

Get out and about in the local area, whether it's enjoying Xbox gaming, watching movies at home, or exploring the surroundings.

Empowering and assisting in maintaining my independence.

Offering companionship and emotional support to enhance my general wellbeing.

Help and Support in and around the house.

Any other reasonable duties as requested.



Person specification

Essential:

Willingness to engage in various outdoor activities.

A full UK driving license holder to drive the individual's wheelchair-accessible van.

The ideal candidate would require a calming, reassuring, Caring and Patience

The person I employ, must have an understanding of the need for confidentiality in all areas of work including total respect for my privacy.

Desirable:

Previous experience in a similar role is preferred.

Flexibility in working hours to accommodate the individual's needs.

While not essential, having similar interests such as gaming, football, or shared hobbies can enhance the experience.




Summary terms and conditions

The rate of pay for this position is £11.68 per hour.

Hours and times of work: 24 Hrs Weekdays, Time discussed further at interview.

The annual holiday entitlement for this position will be equivalent to the work I would normally expect to be done during 5.6 consecutive weeks.

Free Care Skills training is provided to employed staff.





The post is subject to the following:

A satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, the cost of which will be covered by the employer.

Satisfactory references from two referees, one of whom must be your current or last employer.

Completion of a satisfactory probationary period of 3 months
