Our son is in his late 20’s living in Fishponds, Bristol. He is looking to recruit PA's able to commence work immediately, subject to satisfactory references and DBS check. The PA(s) will join our current care team to cover regular shifts, they will provide personal care and support to our son to live independently in his home. We are looking for people who are caring, friendly, patient and who can understand and deliver the needs he requires. He is looking for physical support as well as companionship for community activities and social outings.

He is mad about sport – he loves to watch sport on TV, see it live and talk about it!

He has season tickets for both his local football and cricket clubs, which he attend regularly. He plays Boccia once a week at his local club - enter competitions, plays for his regional team and has played at national comps too. He likes to swim a few times a week and enjoy trips to the cinema, theatre and socialising at his local pub with friends and companions. He would like the opportunity to get more involved in the local community. He uses a powered wheelchair all the time for my mobility due to Cerebral Palsy.

We operate a 7 day a week 3 week Rota -

shift 1 is 0800 - 1900 = 11 hours

shift 2 is 1900 - 0800 = 13 hours this includes a sleep night

We have a vacancy for Sat & Sun 0800-1900 shifts every third week totalling 22 hours at present

There maybe the option of in the future of the following permanent shifts.
3 x weekday (Monday, Tuesday & Friday) shift 2 (1900-0800) (every third week)
1 x weekday (Friday) shift 1 (0800-1900) (every third week)
1 x weekend (Saturday) shift 2 (1900-0800) (every third week)

The successful applicant will need to be reliable, organised, and have a flexible approach to work. Our sons carers should work together and be open to covering one another during sickness and holidays, as required.As a Personal Care Assistant your job will be to provide personal care:- Toileting- Showering/shaving- Dressing- Support into wheelchair- Encourage me to use standing facility on wheelchair- Encourage exercise at home on my bike- Administer Medication- And Meals, inc assistance to cut foods Includes domestic duties:- Food shopping- Cooking- Cleaning- LaundryIncludes Social duties- To be a Companion at social events and activities- Using public transportYou must be able to handle the physical skills of lifting, pushing and bending. You do not have to be physically strong to do this but it does help, as does good general health.Previous experience is desirable. There will be an opportunity to take up appropriate training - e.g. in mobility handling etc, to help you fully in your role. Please note that due to COVID19 some training may be on line.
Shift 1 0800 – 1900 paid at 11 x £11.30 per hour
Shift 2 1900 – 0800 paid at 4 x £11.30 per hour and 9 x sleep night £11.30
Both shifts are paid through the PAYE scheme. This is not a cash in hand position.Ideal Candidate:An understanding of social care, patience & good communications skills, responsible, confident, sociable & reliable. Fun personality, sense of humour & a relaxed attitude.Clean & tidy in both appearance & ways and have a full clean driving licence.Essential Criteria:You must be able to handle the physical skills of lifting, pushing and bending. You do not have to be physically strong to do this but it does help, as does good general health. You must have good communication skills and fluent in English language. You must be able to cook healthy meals and be comfortable in doing personal care. You must respect my privacy, and have an understanding of the need for confidentiality. You must be a non-smoker. You must be legally able to work in the UK. Proof of ID, two references and a full DBS check will be required, before anyone is hired. There will be a trial period of 12 weeks (TBD) while the team settles.
