Personal Assistant required for a non-verbal young man with autism and learning difficulties. We are looking for support with his personal care at home, and with accessing activities in the community. As he has diabetes there will be training with monitoring blood sugar levels and administering prefilled injections.“I really love painting, drawing and doing puzzles. I like sitting together with people to create arts and crafts and I feel very proud about everything I create. I enjoy swimming. I love all music from opera to pop, and I love watching TV shows, particularly dramas and comedies which make me laugh! I also like going to the cinema and to the theatre to watch musicals and pantomimes. I struggle with my anxiety and I need you to support me by talking me through this. I have a great sense of humour!”Applicant must have good communication skills and have good attention to detail. If you are patient, confident, outgoing and have experience with supporting someone as part of their everyday life, this role is suited for you. It would be beneficial if you have the ability to transport the client in and around the Ashford area, for which some milage will be paid. The person will need support with his wheelchair. The young man has a current PA who works with him and they have a great relationship. He is very family orientated and lives with his extended family in an peaceful rural location. His family are supportive and involved in his day-to-day life.Working days will be discussed at the interview and can be flexible. Extra hours may be available to cover other PA holiday/sickness leave etc.This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check and references.

Tasks:
Support with personal care (toileting)Help with eating meals (cut up food)Support with using wheelchair on occasions and general mobility (partially sighted)Support with accessing the community and day care activities with the ability to transport client to and from activities in a rural location essential (some mileage paid)
