We are looking to offer a Band 7 Advanced Mental Health Practitioner (core professional qualification in mental health nursing, social work, occupational therapy) who can work within CAMHS East SCT to cover the duty role alongside our duty clinician and MDT. We are looking for an individual who is energetic, flexible, and highly motivated. Previous experience of working with young people, families and other agencies is essential. The post will be based at Upton Hospital, Fir Tree House. The position is fulltime working Monday to Friday 9-5 pm, we will consider part time hours.

The role requires someone who can conduct complex CAMHS mental health assessments which might include multi agency liaison to support social issues that may be impacting on a young person’s presentation. The role requires good mental health risk assessment and safety planning skills and an understanding of CAMHS systems.

You will need excellent communication skills to support both patients and their families, together with a friendly and compassionate outlook. You will also be well organised and confident in working independently with the wider support of the multi-disciplinary team and senior consultants.

The post holder’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Provide comprehensive assessments and therapeutic interventions to young people and their families, as appropriate

Provide ‘duty’ support to young people and families

Provide care co-ordination for young people open to the service

Use supervision effectively

Offer supervision to junior colleagues as appropriate

Work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team and within a multiagency system

Work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of psychological practice

Maintain own continuing professional development and contribute to team professional development initiatives

Must have

  • Experience in Mental Health services at a B6 (or equivalent) level.
  • The ability to manage a complex caseload.
  • Core professional registration.
