Job Purpose:
To assist with a variety of tasks and provide support to a young gentleman who lives at home with his parents. He is blind and requires guidance to maintain his safety, he has hyperacusis so is extremely sensitive to sounds and often experiences dizziness. A diagnosis of both M.E and Fibromyalgia mean that he becomes tired very easily, he would like someone to support to maintain his independence, provide social support and companionship.

Marlingford, NR9
Main duties:
Personal duties:
Promote independence with all daily tasks
Assistance to attend appointments
Domestic duties:
Support with meal preparation
Support with cleaning and maintaining bedroom
Social duties:
Encourage hobbies: cooking, gardening, picnics, playing guitar and reading
Provide social support and assistance to access local community, going for walks and accessing swimming facilities
Support with using IT equipment
These duties may vary from day to day
Person specification
Essential:
Driving licence and own transport due to rural location
Motor Vehicle Business insurance cover
At least 6 months experience in health and social care
Able to talk quiet and clearly
Understanding and willing to help
Reliable and adaptable
Desirable:
Computer literate
Health and Social care related qualification such as: NVQ level 2 or 3
Friendly
Approachable
Patient
Summary terms and conditions:
Rate of pay for this position is £15.00 per hour
Free Care Skills Training provided to employed staff
Hours and times of work:
2-3 hours per week initially with possibility to increase in the future, working day/times flexible to be mutually agreed
Post is subject to the following:
A satisfactory enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check, the cost of which will be covered by the employer
Satisfactory references from two referees, one of which must be your current or last employer
Completion of a satisfactory probationary period of 3 months
