We welcome applicants who have not worked in CAMHS crisis services but have transferable skills relevant to the role such as skills and experience in working with young people and families with complex difficulties, including experience in completing assessments and risk management. We offer regular supportive supervision and mentoring, to help you develop and feel confident/supported in this role. We are keen to develop our team to consist of multi-disciplines and ensure staff have opportunities to develop themselves and the service.
You will deliver high-quality mental health assessments and short-term intervention to young people experiencing mental health crisis. This role is essential in responding to young people and adolescents presenting to acute hospitals (or in the community) to ensure high quality and robust assessments are carried out and to identify young people’s needs and ongoing care planning.
It is due to new investment and service expansion, that we have numerous Band 6 opportunities to work within our CAMHS Rapid Response team that sits within the Children, Young People and Families service (CYPF). We can consider both full time (37.5 hours per week) and part time applications.
About the Job
• Undertake comprehensive assessments, clinical formulation and brief intervention for young people that present in crisis, ensuring you support the young person to be heard, validated and understood
• Responsible for the effective delivery and quality of care standards for a sub-division of service or for the delivery of specialist services across an organizational and geographical area.
• Able to assess, interpret and diagnose and implement treatment of children and young people’s conditions, developing, planning, implementing and evaluating specialist packages of care, including the involvement of multi-agency input around the children and young people’s needs.
• Make appropriate judgments that best improve the treatment outcomes for the child, young person and their families’ as well as improve resilience and recovery and which mitigates risk to themselves or others.
• Formulate and design interventions as part of the children and young people and their families’ care plan, ensuring that clinical policies and procedures are followed correctly and risks inherent in any procedures are minimised.
Service operating hours + Working pattern
The service currently operates between 8am-10pm Mon to Fri and 9am-5pm Weekends. Therefore, you will be expected to work within these timeframes. We encourage you to get in touch if you wish to enquire about flexible working.
Typically the following shifts are worked: 3 x 9am-8pm (with occasional 11am-10pm shift approximately fortnightly) and 1 x 9am-5pm.

The 4 “must haves” for you to be considered for this role:
1. Degree or master’s level qualification in either Psychotherapy, Psychology, Mental Health Nursing, Occupational Therapy or Social Work, with relevant registration
2. Experience in working with young people with mental health and complex needs
3. Sound assessment skills including identifying and managing risk
4. Car driver & possess full UK driver’s license or evidence of ability to efficiently travel to designated base & other sites
