Groundwork Yorkshire is a business-like charity that works within the deprived communities of Yorkshire to deliver over 400 varied projects each year.
We manage a range of contracts, sites, and funded programmes across the Yorkshire and Humber region. Our staff team is responsible for developing and delivering a range of projects that enable residents across Yorkshire to make positive changes to their lives and their communities; and we are looking for young people (as part of the Kickstart scheme) to join us.
This post is to support the Communities team in the delivery of community-based, environmental and well-being projects they are responsible for delivering.
To provide general support to our project officers, both in the office and out on project sites, delivering a broad range of community based activities
To assist and support the team in the achievement of targets/outcomes/deliverables
Demonstrate good communication skills and a friendly positive attitude to all partners, community members, colleagues and participants.
To actively participate and contribute toward the development of marketing and promotional initiatives and materials.
To adhere to, support and maintain Groundwork’s service and quality standards.
To work within agreed policies and procedures (which include equal opportunities, child protection, health and safety) and to ensure that they are put into practice.
Skills and Experience: Good organisational and time management skills with a willingness to be flexible and adapt to changing priorities, Ability to work on own initiative.
Experience of general office administration and a working knowledge of office equipment.
A willingness to take a hands-on approach and to act as part of a small team and support other team members at all times
A good understanding of IT (word/excel/powerpoint/zoom) and social media platforms.
5 hours per day over five days per week (can be flexible within office hours 9.00am to 5.00pm) total 25 hrs

ADDITIONAL EMPLOYABILITY SUPPORT
The Groundwork Kickstart programme will include additional elements of training and personal development support as well as on the job training. Each young person will be able to access bespoke light touch training linked to the Environment/Sustainability and Community Development. This is to provide a flavour of Groundwork’s culture, work and diverse employment opportunities. Each young person will be able to become a member of a Youth Network. This will create opportunities to take part in different debates, topics and discussions focused on preparing young people for work. There will also be the opportunity to take part in remote sessions hosted by guest speakers and specialist workers within Groundwork.
Each young person will complete an in-depth induction programme, along with tailored information advice and guidance interviews at key points during the placement. They will also receive intensive one to one coaching throughout their placement. This may include help with their CV, job search skills and interview preparation. They will access ongoing employability support and vacancy information. Groundwork’s aim is to provide each young person with the relevant skills and attitude to secure future employment. We will provide ongoing support which may include referring to any specialist services if appropriate. We will provide or signpost to any additional bite size training that will enhance the young person’s experience and their placement. As an employee the young person with complete a suite of mandatory training which includes: Safeguarding, Health and Safety, Equality and Diversity and GDPR.
We will create a unique experience for each young person who participates in a Groundwork Kickstart placement.
