JOB SUMMARY
A brand new position is to be created with the title 'Estates Compliance Technician'.

The role is to support the Head of Estates by carrying out inspections and testing of mechanical, electrical and water services as required by statute and other tests to inform the maintenance team of faults

The trainee will be required to follow a schedule of routine tests and recording the findings on a tablet devise. The tests will be carried out in LIPA, The LIPA Primary School and LIPA 6th Form College.

The items to be tested/checked include:
Emergency Lighting (flick tests)
Water Temperature Testing (Legionella)
Washbasin tap functionality
Fire Door Checks
Fire Extinguisher Checks
Evacuation Chair Checks
Refuge Point Intercom Checks
Disable Toilet Checks.

All of the above checks will be carried out in a building in a single week. We have four buildings, so over the course of a month all checks will be complete and the process repeated.

Training will be given in how to carry out the checks and to make on-going remedial work where appropriate. The recorded findings of the checks will be reported to our Building Supervisor once a week who will arrange repairs to be carried out.

The experience will enable the Kickstarter to learn the importance of statutory compliance in occupied buildings and will help their application stand out if they pursue a future career in facilities management/building maintenance/caretaking or similar roles.

Hours per week: 25

SKILLS NEEDED
Use of a tablet computer, basic spreadsheet and word processing skills.

The successful candidate will need to pass a Disclosure and Barring Service check, which we will pay for.

Monday - Friday

HOURLY RATE
national minimum wage

ADDITIONAL EMPLOYABILITY SUPPORT
Training will be given to carry out the required task. Most training will be carried out in-house by my maintenance team, training will also be arranged with our Water Treatment Service Partner for Legionella testing.

We will also assist the successful candidate with support in relation to CV writing, interview skills, job searches, goal setting, networking, coaching and mentoring.
