JOB SUMMARY
We are looking for a creative and detail-oriented Assistant Graphic Designer to create and maintain a relevant aesthetic for our website. The Assistant Graphic Designer is responsible for working with other Designers and Web Developers to ensure that the website is functional while attractive. The postholder must have a good understanding of front-end and back-end coding to create functions that work and look appealing. The postholder should be both technically minded and design oriented.

The postholder will receive training and support to develop and enhance their skills and abilities as an Assistant Graphic Designer.


Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Consulting with clients to understand their needs.
• Working with Developers and Designers to create a design strategy.
• Selecting and editing images for websites.
• Choosing fonts and colour schemes for websites.
• Testing sites to ensure that they are working correctly.
• Design page layouts and templates.
• Produce design assets for use in social media and marketing channels.
• Develop and maintain consistent branding.
• Collaborate with marketing and other teams.
• Utilise data and analytics in making design decisions.
• Create and maintain a database of design assets.
• Keeping abreast of image editing software innovations.
• Maintaining coding knowledge through extra training.

SKILLS NEEDED
Requirements:


To be a successful Assistant Graphic Designer, it will be desirable but not essential to have knowledge/understating of the following requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or a related field preferrable but not essential. High School Diploma also acceptable.
• Understanding of graphic design fundamentals.
• Strong command of colour theory, image composition, and typography.
• Excellent time-management skills.
• Ability to deliver production-ready digital assets in a wide variety of formats.
• Awareness of UI/UX principles.
• Familiarity with digital photo editing.
• Exceptional organisation, planning and administration skills.
• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc…)
• Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (Dreamweaver, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator).
• Experience with HTML, Javascript, and CSS.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Able to manage a varied workload and respond to requests at short notice.
• Excellent customer service.
• Attention to detail and presentation skills with a high degree of accuracy.
• Ability to manage pressure and conflicting demands and prioritise tasks and workload within clear deadlines.
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently on projects.
• Tact, discretion, and respect for confidentiality.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Reliability and honesty.
• Flexible approach to hours and conditions.
