Job Purpose: -

Reporting to the Communications and Engagement Manager within the Strategic Change Department, the post holder will be supporting the team to produce targeted, timely and meaningful communications and engagement activities for staff (and students), with the aim of raising awareness of planned change initiatives.

Working hours: Mon – Fri (09:30-15:30) with 1hour unpaid lunch.

Key Responsibilities: -
Supporting the production of high-quality communications for internal staff and students via editorial and proof-reading services, writing articles, blogs and infographics, and contributing ideas during communication planning sessions
Supporting the production of project-specific communications by researching and developing collateral such as news articles, emails, blogs, promotional graphics and infographics alongside proofing and editing content
Supporting the delivery of online and face-to-face engagement events through developing promotional content, creating Eventbrite listings, managing delegate communications and event feedback surveys
Proof reading and editing content for project and programme communications, such as webpages, e-newsletters, blogs and video captions
Helping maintain the Strategic Change Department’s intranet site and associated project and programme sites by updating and proofing webpages, making changes to webpages using the institution’s content management system

The successful candidate will develop skills and experience in:
Experience of simplifying complex information in order to make it easier to understand for a broad range of stakeholders
Enhanced knowledge and experience of developing and delivering effective internal communications
Experience of writing for digital channels plus print
Experience of using a content management system for web publishing
High quality copywriting and proof-reading experience
Inter-personal and presentation skills development
Good understanding of project management methodology
Gain real-life insight into project and programme management
Experience of working alongside professional Project Managers

Forming part of an inclusive team, the intern will be invited to actively participate in:
Induction week at the start of the placement
Regular 1-2-1s with line manager
Regular network activities with 4 other Kickstart interns within the department
Daily catch ups with the team
Departmental meetings and team building activities
Any other relevant meetings

In addition to the above, all University of Liverpool Kickstart staff are required to:
Adhere to all University policies and procedures, completing all obligatory training and induction modules, including Equality & Diversity and Health & Safety.

Respect confidentiality: all confidential information should be kept in confidence and not released to unauthorised persons

The Kickstart Employee will be required to attend and Employability Induction (Half day) and complete the Employability Programme as a part of their role. This will be an equivalent of 1 hour per week for the duration of their placement.

Education, Qualifications and Training

This role will require a mixture hybrid working due to the employability element of this role and therefore the candidate should be able to attend the University of Liverpool Campus either by car or public transport. (Essential)

This will consist of:
4 Hour induction on campus: Co-delivered with CSD
6 X 45mins Synchronous delivery run in a cycle throughout the project (1monthly, delivered by a mixture of C&E including Enterprise, KSM, EO and Digital Coaches) All these will be skills sessions that are suitable for all as to not need to create multiple sessions dependant on audience
20 Hours’ worth of portfolio tasks, synchronous learning and TEAMS Discussions.
Personal Development Programme: -
Both during their Kickstart placement and for the following 3 months’ post Kickstart placement, the Kickstart Employee’s will form part of a Kickstart Community via a TEAMS space. This will form a community space where employees can discuss their experience with each other, complete group tasks, contact the Kickstart Project Manager regarding any employability related questions or support and access information and links regarding vacancies, development opportunities, and up and coming events. The Employability Portfolio will also ensure the Kickstart intern sets personal and professional goals throughout the placement which they will reflect on and record throughout their experience, including reflective logs, skills audit and evidencing your skills activities where they will create competency-based examples of their developed skills gained throughout their placement.
