Wirral Chamber of Commerce(GW+)

My business can offer knowledge an understanding into plumbing and heating, we mainly specialise in bathroom renovations.

During this time the candidate will learn how to use power tools, learn about different plumbing systems, hot and cold water supply / installation, waste installation, furniture installation, plumbing maintenance, health and safely at the work place, how we respect our customers and show team work.

One on one support will be there at all times.

Previous industry experience is desirable but not essential.

Wirral Chamber offer support for young people and this will commence with an induction at the beginning of their placement that explains important aspects of employment such as contracts, holidays, punctuality, workplace expectations, skill building and general excellence in the workplace (87% of these placements will have the intermediary (Wirral Chamber) undertaking the wraparound support).
We will then hold monthly sessions with session 1 covering effective communications, personal brand and emotional intelligence – detailed how the Kickstart placement can make a valued contribution to the workplace, and how their actions and behaviours can have an impact.
Our Money Matters session looks at what young people might be spending their money on, where savings can be made and why money management is so important.
Session 3 centres on the health and wellbeing of the Kickstart placements where we will look at mental health, resilience, confidence, motivation and the importance of a healthy diet.
Session 4 focuses on CV building and goal setting; looking at their work placement experience to date and how we can ensure these experiences are reflected in their CVs.
We will then progress to interview masterclasses and how to ‘sell yourself’ – so that young people become confident in explaining their strengths.
The final session will focus on job searches and looking for long term employment.
Throughout the sessions we will have senior Business Leaders joining to talk to the young people about the world of work, what they look for in employees and provide tips and hints.
