Reid Lifting Limited

The main responsibilities and duties of this new placement role are:
Assemble and test products prior to final despatch to the customer.
Work under the direct supervision of the assembly and test team supervisor.
Adhere to the agreed ways of working.
Work in a team environment to develop both individual and team-based skills in a safe and controlled manufacturing environment.

Key activities

Assemble portable manual lifting equipment using a range of mechanical tools.
Inspection of assembled components to engineering drawings using tablet interfaces.
All activities undertaken in the area are through works orders which are scanned prior to starting the job.
Perform testing protocols and record data to ensure products are fully compliant to the relevant lifting legislation.
Opportunity to take part in team improvement activities on productivity, health and safety and efficiency.

A good attitude and willingness to learn new skills and experience. Some mechanical know how could be useful but not essential. Driving licence would be good to have.

08:00 to 13:00 daily

National minimum wage

The employability support would be given by both the Production Manager and the Assembly and Test Team Supervisor. Ideally, we would like to recruit two job placements and we would provide in house mentoring for both placements to enable them to be successful in manufacturing environment roles. At Reid lifting, we would provide experience of working with innovative components and products with excellent manufacturing systems and procedures. Through our HR function, we would support our placements with relevant tips on how to prepare CVs and necessary supporting letters. Our preferred outcome for our placements would be for us to take both on after the 6-month programme and offer them the opportunity to do a mechanical manufacturing engineering level 3 pathway 3 apprenticeship.
