We are looking for a creative, talented, innovative, enthusiastic person to join the marketing and communications team.
The Design and Digital Marketing Assistant will support the Marketing and Communications Manager in implementing our marketing and communications plan and increasing brand awareness for Westbank, including Devon Carers, Seachange and our Diabetes Prevention Programmes. You will support the team in raising the profile of all our projects and increase revenue through our website.
Key Responsibilities
Working as part of the marketing team, you will be encouraged to collaborate and share insightful creative ideas and feedback. Together with the marketing and communications manager you will oversee copywriting for specific marketing campaigns.
Using InDesign, you will be required to create new marketing campaigns and keep all existing marketing literature up-to-date, for both external and internal campaigns.
Administration of Search Engine Optimization and content management (including website) and generation of inbound traffic.
Using Hootsuite, you will work with the marketing and communications manager to plan, write and schedule social media campaigns for our various projects.
You will need to be comfortable liaising with team members from different departments and projects on a regular basis re their needs and consider practical solutions. At times you may be required to liaise with external suppliers as necessary, ensuring best cost and quality are achieved.
You will be responsible for prioritising and organising your workload and will need to work to tight deadlines.

Professional Experience/Qualifications: Preferably educated to diploma or degree level in design; using Adobe Creative Cloud programmes including InDesign, PhotoShop and Illustrator; with digital marketing experience, including an understanding of social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Linkedin). Experience of photography would also be beneficial.
Behavioral Characteristics: Excellent communication and inter-personal skills, with a strong work ethic and genuine interest in design and digital marketing.
Skills, aptitude, knowledge and experience: Excellent grammar, formatting and writing experience, with strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions, manage, develop and co-ordinate projects. Experience of writing meaningful content and updating social media accounts and websites.
Understanding of and commitment to principles of confidentiality, equal opportunities and safeguarding.
Personal qualities: Self-motivated with the ability to plan, consider priorities, use initiative and anticipate problems and provide solutions. Ability/willingness to work flexibly (including occasional evenings and weekends).

We can be flexible across the week, providing hours are between Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm


On the job training specific to the role shall be given as well as employability support which shall be available via the Career Success Accelerator, 6-Month Kickstart Mentorship Programme.
How will you help to develop the young person’s teamwork and communication skills?
Provide regular 121’s, the young person will also be based at the same site as the marketing and communications manager who they will work with and will provide ongoing support throughout the placement.
Feedback will be provided in a timely manner.
Including the young person as member of the marketing and communications team and also the wider Westbank teams.

What training will the young person receive as part of the role?
There will be mandatory online training which includes Health & Safety/Fire Safety/GDPR/DSE.
There will also be specialised training with the department which will include: Adobe Creative Cloud Suite (inDesign), Canva, Website Training, Hootsuite and Social Media Training.
Ongoing support throughout the placement from managers and peers.

How will you help the young person improve their job prospects?
As this is quite a broad role we will work with the young person to build their confidence by initially developing any particular areas of the role that they are more familiar with, we will then look to increase their skills and knowledge in any areas where they may need more support.
Giving appropriate feedback of what the young person’s weaknesses are and providing support in how to strengthen these.
