Alliance For Cohesion and Racial Equality Ltd

Alliance for Cohesion and Racial Equality (ACRE) was set up in 2012 to promote Equality, Community Empowerment, and Community Cohesion in Greater Reading. ACRE aims to eliminate discrimination, promote positive relationships between communities and advocate equal opportunities for all. Our work is delivered through engagement, empowerment, and integration of the diverse communities including minority and marginalised communities associated by faith, cultural heritage and particular interests in the greater Reading area. To sustain these activities, we have established a Community Wellbeing Hub and wish to recruit new Kickstart staff to join our team in developing, running, and managing the Hub.

Main Responsibilities
As the events manager, you will assist ACRE in the co-ordination, promotion, and organisation of our internal, Community Hub, and external events, to support key marketing, operational and engament events, campaigns, and deliverables and provide
administrative support to the management. The primary duties, tasks and responsibilities will include:
• Undertake all aspects of the ACRE’s events organising and marketing functions including creating the basic marketing resources (with website and graphic design teams), word processing, database input, administrative duties, mail-shots and event preparation as required;
• Assist in the planning and organising of Community Hub and periodic events including special days such as Black History Month, Volunteering days etc, achievement ceremonies, job fairs, online events and external events, liaising with key internal and external partners and stakeholders;
• Assist in the promotion and marketing of ACRE events through a wide range of internal and external marketing channels in run up to and after events;
• Assist in the maintenance of the ACRE and Community Hub partners websites and social media and ensuring content are up to date, relevant and effective (by working with web developer and project managers)
• Provide a professional front of house service and act confidently as ambassador for the ACRE at internal and external events.
• Other reasonable duties at the request of the Events Manager and wider team.
• To actively advance equality of opportunity and foster good relations within the ACRE community.

• Experience of using Word, Excel, Social Media and emails;
• Highly developed organisational skills
• Awareness and sensitivity regarding racial, gender and other inequality issues;
• Good interpersonal skills with ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with clients and stakeholders and external contacts
• Have (support will be provided if you do not have one) an enhanced DBS disclosure check deemed acceptable to the ACRE;
• Share ACRE’s commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults.
• Flexible working with availability for some evenings and weekends
• Willingness to carry out some travel independently.
• Photography, videoing, and blogging and digital media editing and manipulation skills are an added advantage
• Willingness to update and adapt skills as required by the demands of this role.

Support will be through and at:
• This will through 1-1, group, face-to-face, online, internal and specialised support
• Thie will be provided through a partnership with PATRA Inc ACDA and National Career Service
• When and how often: Weekly review and 2 hour virtual or face-to-face meeting with 13 week training assessment
• How it will be delivered & where: Core support will be online or within our premises but we there will be joint support with other young people with Reading College and Kutambua training services.
• You will also have both a learner trainer and a mentor to support them on your learning journey.
