JOB SUMMARY
Main responsibilities of this role are to learn general office administration (to include - handling telephone calls and emails, opening post, photocopying and scanning documents, filing documents electronically, updating information on the company’s IT systems and generally aiding in the smooth running of the firm’s operations). The postholder will also have an opportunity to receive training in bookkeeping, payroll and accounts preparation tasks for a range of clients. The firm provides services to businesses as well as individuals. The role is office based at re:accounts, Suite 1c Meadway Court, Stevenage, SG1 3EF

SKILLS NEEDED
High standard of spoken and written English (GCSE English Language Level 4+), confident maths skills (GCSE Mathematics Level 4+). Accurate typing ability, attention to detail and confident IT skills (good understanding of Word & Excel). An interest in figure work is essential. Any previous experience of office work, bookkeeping and accounts is preferable but not essential.

WORKING HOURS
Office hours are 9.30 to 5.30 Monday to Friday but flexibility within these hours will be offered. Overtime may be available but is not guaranteed

ADDITIONAL EMPLOYABILITY SUPPORT
We will provide on the job training and support for someone to learn about accounting and it’s supporting office administration with the potential (for the right person) to develop the role into an apprenticeship. The postholder will work closely with our current Accounting Apprentice and Office Manager as well as the Practice Director who is a Chartered Accountant. The young person will improve their job prospects learning how a small business operates, how to manage office procedures efficiently and, in particular, will have an opportunity to learn accounting from a senior level practitioner. They will learn about a wide range of accounting and bookkeeping areas including the use of software for recording company records, company and personal taxation, corporate taxation, company and sole trader accounts production, payroll and VAT.
